The developer Nova-box announced that the playable demo of After the Wane is now officially available. The title is the new interactive graphic novel from the studio behind Along the Edge and Across the Grooves, bringing a narrative focused on choices and consequences within an urban setting infused with elements of fantasy.

At the center of the story is Lena, a young dancer full of dreams who decides to pursue her path in the capital. However, as soon as she arrives in the city, she becomes entangled in a long standing conflict that shapes the fate of the characters around her. "Lena is a starry-eyed young dancer with big dreams, but as soon as she sets foot in the capital, she finds herself at the nexus of a lifelong quarrel between Fernand, the elusive director of a community center, and Deborah, who's leading the troupe of a strange and exclusive theatre."

The studio also highlighted the artistic commitment that guided the development of the project, reinforcing a fully handcrafted approach to its production. "In an era of increasing automation, we've chosen a path of pure craftsmanship. We are incredibly proud to confirm that no AI was used in the creation of After the Wane. From our signature hand-painted backgrounds to our new venture into rotoscoping, every frame and every line of dialogue is the result of human intent and artistry."

Among the highlights of the demo is the debut of rotoscoping within the studio’s visual identity. The technique blends realistic and fluid character movement with hand painted backgrounds, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that strengthens the urban fantasy tone presented to players.

Another central element of the experience is the presence of an internal voice that accompanies Lena throughout her journey. This narrative device establishes a constant dialogue between the protagonist and her own consciousness, encouraging players to reflect on their decisions and how those choices influence the way the character perceives herself.

Even as a short slice of the full experience, the demo already demonstrates how the player's choices begin to shape the protagonist’s personality and the course of her new life as a dancer in the capital. In this way, the game introduces a decision driven narrative system that promises to further deepen the relationships and conflicts explored throughout the story.
