The Australian studio Plot Twist, based in Melbourne, has announced that the demo for Ashes is now available for download on Steam, ahead of its participation in the upcoming Steam Next Fest. The title marks the developer’s debut and presents a narrative experience set in Victoria, Australia, blending suspense, drama, and interactive elements.

The story follows Azar Warren, a 16-year-old skater who hides out at her estranged grandfather’s rural property after witnessing a brutal murder. Trying to escape those who want to silence her, she seeks refuge in an isolated environment that quickly shifts from a place of safety to a source of suspicion and tension.

Throughout the narrative, the protagonist fights not only to keep herself safe but also to uncover dark truths about people she once believed she could trust. Her grandfather Stan’s strange behavior raises doubts and suggests he may be hiding disturbing secrets of his own, deepening the atmosphere of mystery surrounding the plot.

The experience combines the visual novel format with graphic novel inspired panels and interactive puzzles integrated into the world of the game. Among the challenges presented, Azar must piece together torn photographs, crack the code of a mysterious lockbox, and practice shooting at a makeshift range, all while staying alert to threats that may emerge at any moment.

The demo includes the first three chapters of Azar’s journey, allowing players to learn more about her grandfather and the dangers that await her. With hand crafted artwork and a gritty depiction of Victoria, Australia, the project relies on a striking visual style to reinforce the emotional weight and dark tone of the story.
