Developed by Voidmaw, the action roguelite Katanaut is now available on Steam, immersing players in the pixelated chaos of a doomed space station. Revealed during the Play Acclaim Showcase, the game is part of publisher Acclaim’s upcoming lineup, which also includes plans to bring the experience to consoles in 2026, though specific release dates have yet to be announced.

Players take on the role of a survivor trapped aboard a massive station slowly collapsing after a mysterious accident. Once-human inhabitants have been twisted into nightmarish forms, creating an unforgiving gauntlet of encounters. Survival relies not only on combat skills but also on uncovering what caused the catastrophe.

Weapons and abilities form the backbone of progression. From sharp blades to guns and magic-like powers, every tool offers new ways to adapt to an evolving environment. As the station warps further out of control, enemies become more grotesque and environments increasingly haunting.

Each attempt challenges players to experiment with new strategies. Whether perfecting builds to suit individual playstyles or improvising through unpredictable encounters, death becomes part of the learning process. Every run reshapes the puzzle of survival and offers opportunities for refinement.

The adventure also thrives on variety. Levels combine handcrafted designs with procedural generation, ensuring no journey feels the same. Unlockable weapons, skills, and perks add to the replayability, expanding possibilities with every successful or failed run.

Completing the experience is a striking audiovisual presentation. Meticulously crafted pixel art captures the eerie atmosphere of the derelict station, while a synthwave soundtrack drives tension and energy throughout each battle. Together, these elements create a cosmic nightmare that challenges players both strategically and emotionally.
