Jack King-Spooner and Talha Kaya, two veterans of the indie scene with decades of experience in handcrafted games, have joined forces to present a new artisanal adventure: Mashina. The stop-motion animated adventure game has just released a new trailer and a release date: July 31, 2025, on Steam, distributed by Judatone Studios. Players step into the shoes of a friendly mining robot on a journey to collect minerals and help an eccentric robot community rebuild and thrive.
The game’s concept is divided between two contrasting worlds. Underground, the focus is on exploration and excavation of a mysterious environment filled with hidden treasures, curious relics, and lost robot friends. Using a radar, the protagonist locates objects of interest, digs up rare minerals, and stores them in her backpack to convert into money or useful tools.
On the surface, the setting shifts to a vibrant and welcoming island where the robot’s friends live. In this fully explorable space, players can take on missions, upgrade equipment, decorate their surroundings, and discover secrets and collectibles that expand the game’s universe.
The gameplay loop invites players to dig, build, discover, and mend the world around them, all at a calm and contemplative pace. Every object in the game is handmade from various materials and animated using traditional stop-motion techniques, giving the experience a unique and tangible visual identity.
Mashina also stands out for its inventory management system, challenging players to optimize their time underground by balancing space for minerals, trinkets, and special artifacts. Excavation evolves from simple tools to complex machines that ease resource extraction as the story progresses.
Progression is marked by constant unlocks: better equipment, new companions, invention recipes, and camp improvements. Every item found holds value, whether functional or narrative, encouraging thorough exploration of every corner of the world.
The result is a game that combines artisanal charm, deep exploration, and building elements in a touching journey. With a hand-crafted universe and a community-centered approach, Mashina promises to delight players seeking calm, creative, and memorable experiences.
