Shoreline Games and Lightbulb Crew are preparing for the launch of Nova Hearts, which will be released on June 19, 2025, across Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. The game will be priced at $19.99 on Steam and $24.99 on console platforms, with possible launch day discounts to be announced. As a turn-based strategy game that blends dating sim and visual novel elements, it marks Shoreline Games’ debut release and the second title from Lightbulb Crew, previously known for the critically acclaimed Othercide.
Inspired by classic superhero shows like Sailor Moon, the story follows a group of vibrant young heroes fighting to protect their hometown. This fusion of tactical gameplay and heartfelt character dynamics is wrapped in a striking visual presentation, setting it apart from traditional genre titles.
Ahead of the launch, the studios are engaging in a creative community campaign. In partnership with LGBTQIA+ friendly coffee shops, bars, and venues across the United States, they are distributing Nova Hearts-branded condoms and coasters. Additionally, a portion of proceeds from this campaign will be donated to Rainbow Railroad, an organization supporting LGBTQI+ individuals facing persecution.
Brittany Skerritt, Director of Community Giving at Rainbow Railroad, expressed appreciation for the initiative: "We are so grateful to Shoreline Games for choosing to support Rainbow Railroad through Nova Hearts and the awareness campaign surrounding the game's release. As asylum protections continue to erode around the world, our work faces increasing challenges. Through supporting the Nova Hearts campaign, you will be helping us respond to the requests for help we are receiving from LGBTQI+ individuals, and expand our capacity to support grassroots partners doing critical work."
Participating locations in this campaign include establishments like The Game Parlour, Gamescape, Powerhouse, Sharetea Metreon, Early to Rise, Little Sweet (Kearny St., San Francisco), and Midlane Esports in Chicago. These collaborations aim to both raise awareness and create inclusive spaces where the spirit of the game can resonate in real-life community engagement.
Keith Kawamura, CEO and co-founder of Shoreline Games, shared his excitement: "We fell in love with Nova Hearts for its charm, unique blend of gameplay and visual aesthetics which has some of the best-looking designs out there. So, we would love to share this whole experience and magic of Nova Hearts with as many people as possible; and then to do a little good out there in collaboration with Lightbulb Crew as well is just icing on the cake for us."
Lightbulb Crew’s CEO, Anders Larsson, echoed that enthusiasm, saying: "The whole team at Lightbulb Crew is super excited to share Nova Hearts with the world. We have lived for years in Luce's world of relationships and being a superhero. Now we are looking forward to getting it into the hands of players!"
