Toydium has announced RULES OF RESIDENCE, its new political simulation game that places players in the role of a member of an apartment building's board, where residents are subjected to strict rules and authoritarian decisions. After taking out a 35 year mortgage to finally acquire their dream home, a family of three discovers that their new residence is governed by the tyranny of a chairman known for imposing unreasonable demands on the residents. In this scenario, the mother, who has recently given birth, is unexpectedly elected to the board and becomes responsible for the future of the community.

The experience developed by Toydium draws inspiration from tabletop role playing games, featuring a weekly turn based system in which players must manage resources such as residents and money while dealing with various problems that arise within the building. Decisions must also take the protagonist's physical and mental health into account, along with the stability of the building's management, creating a dynamic in which the community's progress depends on balancing resources, relationships and consequences.

Events are influenced by dice rolls, combining strategic planning with unpredictable situations that can alter the course of the story. The abilities and motivation levels of the residents affect the results, while decisions accumulated throughout the campaign can change relationships, the condition of the building and the paths available to the protagonist.

The setting features an eerie artistic and textual style, transforming the apartment building into a space marked by mysteries and an unsettling atmosphere. The conflict between the chairman's control and the possibility of liberation for the residents is also reflected in the relationships developed throughout the experience, causing the characters and the building's environment to change according to the decisions made.

Toydium has also confirmed the game's presence at Tokyo Game Show 2026, where a new demo with a dictatorial theme is available to visitors. The demo allows players to experience part of the game's system of choices and consequences, highlighting how different decision patterns can lead to distinct outcomes and contribute to the multiple endings planned by the developer.
