Independent developer Wala Interactive has officially revealed the co op ghost hunting adventure Spook A Boo, set to launch on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Published by Soft Source Publishing, the title embraces a lighthearted and fun approach, featuring a top down perspective and level based progression, inspired by classic Saturday morning cartoons like Scooby Doo and Ghostbusters, focusing on chaotic yet family friendly adventures.

Gaining attention across the indie scene, the experience invites players to join, either solo or with up to three friends, the D.E.D (Dimensional Entity Department), an organization dedicated to capturing troublesome entities scattered across time and space. The game emphasizes coordination, as each player must use different tools to locate, lure, and trap ghosts that are often hidden in plain sight.

The gameplay blends physics based puzzles with a wide range of gadgets, offering multiple ways to interact with the environment. Among its more unusual features is a dedicated button just for kicking objects, adding an extra layer of unpredictability and humor to each session.

Although designed with co op play in mind, the game can also be enjoyed solo. However, the single player experience tends to be less chaotic and dynamic, as much of the fun comes from player interaction, whether on the couch or through online multiplayer.

Another highlight is the presence of The Warden, the game’s guide, voiced by Kevin Miller, known for portraying Sly Cooper in the PlayStation series as well as his work on Jet Set Radio, bringing additional charm and recognition to the project.

During the Steam Spring Fest, held between March 19 and March 26, 2026, a PC demo was made available, allowing players to try out part of the experience alongside friends. The initiative offered a glimpse of what is to come, while also encouraging players to wishlist the title on the platform.

"Spook-A-Boo isn't just about catching ghosts, it's a love letter to the era of gaming when multiplayer meant plugging in a second controller (or three!) and crowding around the TV," says Megha Gupta, Game Producer and Co Founder, Wala Interactive. "This demo is closer to our final vision and a slice of what you can expect before the full game ships later in the year. We hope you have as much fun playing it as we had making it."

"After playing Spook-A-Boo and talking to the team behind it, we instinctively felt it was a right fit for Soft Source's mission: to surface the best Asian games to the world," says Sameer Pandit, Publishing Director, Soft Source Publishing. "We can't wait to share more in the lead up to launch."

Throughout the adventure, players alternate between moments of suspense and full chaos, using a variety of ghost hunting tools to capture hidden spirits. It is possible to play casually at your own pace or compete for high scores, unlocking rewards and secrets along the way.

The journey spans 28 levels across four distinct worlds, including themed settings such as 80s Earth, Ancient India, Steam City, and a sci fi environment. In addition, boss encounters require strategy to uncover weaknesses and ensure successful captures, reinforcing the variety of challenges and the need for constant collaboration between players.
