Altered Alma, the cyberpunk action-adventure game with RPG elements developed by 2Awesome Studio and published by Critical Reflex, has received a new demo. The title takes players through the wild streets of Neo-Barcelona in an impressive space opera Metroidvania, blending exploration, intense combat, and romance within a vibrant futuristic atmosphere.

The new version showcases the detailed look of the city streets, introducing new enemies and bosses ready to hunt down the protagonist. The demo also offers a glimpse of the romance at The Esperanza and presents new upgrades for Jack’s arsenal, allowing players to expand their combat repertoire while discovering alternative routes and adapting their playstyle.

The narrative is crafted by renowned industry writers such as Antony Johnston, known for his work on Resident Evil: Village and Dead Space, and Emma Beeby, responsible for Tails of Iron and F1 23. This team ensures a dense and engaging storyline, balancing drama, action, and human connections in a relentless universe.

A key part of the experience is the Kastefa ship, which serves as Jack’s base of operations. It can be customized and upgraded throughout the journey, while also offering the possibility to recruit new crew members. Player decisions directly influence Jack’s abilities and playstyle, making progression even more strategic.

The social component also stands out, allowing players to build relationships with unique characters. Reuniting with Jack’s old friends, forging new alliances, and even pursuing romance enrich the experience, giving weight to narrative choices in a world where trust and loyalty are as important as power and skill.

Exploring Neo-Barcelona means facing a wide variety of enemies, from gangs of giant lizards to armies of cyborgs, not to mention the brutal bosses that challenge players to master fast and stylish combat. With environments inspired by iconic landmarks such as the Sagrada Família and Park Güell, the city is reimagined in a futuristic way, providing a vibrant stage for Jack’s rise against chaos.
