After a year in Early Access, developer Pixelsplit has released version 1.0 of Deadly Days: Roadtrip, bringing an update that expands the existing content and introduces new features to the game, which focuses on fighting hordes of zombies during a survival journey. The main additions include local co-op for two players, new weapons and items, an additional playable character, a new boss, and various improvements.

The update introduces the Vampire as a new playable character. Unlike the other survivors, the Vampire starts each run without conventional weapons but is accompanied by a group of bats. With every level-up, another bat joins the group, increasing its melee damage potential. The bats also have a chance to steal health from enemies, creating opportunities for combinations with equipment that provides bonuses to melee attacks.

The survivors' base has also received changes with the addition of a coffee stand, where players can prepare a cup before setting out on another journey. Drinking coffee grants temporary bonuses to movement and loot collection speed, providing an additional advantage for those who struggle during the early stages of their expeditions. Another adjustment extends the length of each day, giving players more time to explore and gather resources.

The new boss, Laz, presents another threat to the survivors. The son of a MKing franchise owner and a former freelance IT technician, he built a robot army after stealing cleaning machines from the restaurant chain. The situation eventually spiraled out of control when he underwent a mutation, turning into a serious security risk. With his arrival, the game now features five final bosses.

The arsenal has also been expanded, bringing the total number of weapons and items to more than 110. The update introduces ten weapons, five of which can only be crafted, including the Grinder's spiked wheel, capable of tearing through zombie hordes, and the Flamethrower, which sets the streets ablaze. Other additions include the Crowbar, which increases looting speed, and the Crossbow, whose bolts remain lodged in enemies.

Equipment options have grown with the addition of 16 new items, each offering different effects and expanding the possibilities for combinations during runs. The Hammer automatically upgrades marked items overnight, while the Lottery Ticket offers a chance to obtain resources for another reroll. The Cogwheel triggers chain reactions between items, and the Teleporter allows players to travel directly to areas containing loot they have yet to collect. The Shady Merchant has also expanded its inventory, making new items available.

Co-op mode, one of the most requested features during Early Access, has received special attention through the introduction of cross-backpack synergies. This mechanic allows one player's equipment to interact with their partner's items, creating shared combinations during runs. The mode supports two players locally and can also be accessed through Steam Remote Play, allowing users to invite a friend to join even if they do not own the game.

Version 1.0 also adds more than 30 achievements, new memos that display loot notifications when collected, and additional maps. These include a ski resort in the Snowy Peaks region and a golf course in the suburbs. The update also features a completely new intro video that introduces the game's narrative background.
