A plane crash in the remote mountains of northern Canada turns a search and rescue mission into a fight for survival in OZARK, an independent 2.5D action horror game developed by ALTER-BOY. Available on Steam since October 1, the game delivers an intense, short-form narrative experience in which following a lost signal leads players to a seemingly abandoned facility.
Exploring the complex reveals macabre human experiments, hostile forces, and secrets buried deep within the facility. What begins as an attempt to locate survivors becomes an investigation into the events that took place there, as the protagonists must gather supplies and confront increasingly dangerous threats.
The gameplay combines side-scrolling action, tactical combat, stealth, and exploration in a survival horror experience. Encounters require players to pay attention to their surroundings and enemy positions, allowing them to use cover and choose between avoiding detection or confronting threats directly. Triggering an alarm can also attract enemies, making every decision important to progression.
The campaign can be completed solo or cooperatively with two players, with support for local co-op and online sessions through Steam Remote Play Together. This feature allows a second player to join the adventure remotely without purchasing a separate copy of the game, provided the host owns it on the platform.
Environmental storytelling also gradually reveals the facility's past and the events that led to its current state. While searching for supplies and facing enemies, players must venture into increasingly dangerous areas, gathering information to uncover the mystery behind the experiments and survive whatever lurks within the complex.
