Dynamic Cell Games, by solo developer Alex, presented the trailer and Steam page for its new project Pond Keeper, a cosy pond management game inspired by Viva Piñata that invites players to care for a forgotten aquatic ecosystem full of potential.
The proposal places players in charge of restoring a once lush environment, with a focus on breeding and collecting different fish species. “Take over a neglected aquatic world and transform it into a thriving paradise. Collect unique fish species and experiment with breeding to uncover rare genetic mutations. Unlock new biomes, decorate your ponds, and watch your natural sanctuary flourish.” The experience emphasizes genetic experimentation, allowing players to obtain rare variations of colors and patterns for collection and trading.
The game also leans heavily into customization, offering freedom to clean up and decorate ponds according to the player’s taste. Plants play an important role in this process, as they add bonuses that help fish thrive, making each pond not only visually appealing but also functional within the management loop.
As progression continues, new areas are unlocked, expanding the scope beyond freshwater streams and reaching saltwater reefs, each with its own unique species. The second highlight of Pond Keeper lies in its visual style, which combines hand drawn artwork with procedurally rendered fish swimming animations, reinforcing the relaxing atmosphere.
The release is planned for PC via Steam in the northern hemisphere summer, with a scheduled launch in July 2026, reinforcing the idea of a calm and expansive aquatic refuge for fans of cosy management games.
