Cornerstone Software Development, in collaboration with asmodee and Fantasy Flight Games, has announced Eldritch Horror: Digital Edition, a faithful yet modern adaptation of the acclaimed cooperative board game. Scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2026 on PC, the title aims to bring the atmosphere of global mystery and adventure into the digital realm, allowing players worldwide to uncover ancient secrets and face cosmic horrors.
In this experience, players must gather a team of unlikely heroes and embark on dangerous journeys to investigate cults, confront terrifying creatures, and explore Other Worlds. Every decision influences the course of the narrative, resulting in unique and unpredictable playthroughs. Failure, however, comes at a high cost: if the investigators falter, one of the Ancient Ones will awaken, dooming the world.
“Eldritch Horror has been a fan-favorite for years, captivating players with its tension, cooperative spirit, and deeply atmospheric world,” said Nathan Volpi of Cornerstone Software Development. “With the digital edition, we're not only preserving the essence of the board game but expanding it into a fully immersive, story-rich experience that fans of Lovecraft and mystery adventures won't want to miss.”
The new digital edition promises to preserve the cooperative spirit that made the original a classic among H.P. Lovecraft fans, now enhanced by audiovisual elements that deepen immersion. Each of the eight playable characters will be fully voiced, with distinct personalities and abilities that allow for multiple strategic combinations.
Dynamic storytelling will also be a major highlight. Thanks to a branching event system, no session will ever play out the same, ensuring a unique narrative experience each time. This structure reinforces the unpredictable nature of the Lovecraftian universe, where sanity and the fate of humanity hinge on choices and consequences.
The game will also feature an original soundtrack and handcrafted 2D artwork that evoke the noir-inspired, supernatural atmosphere of the 1920s. The result is a dark and immersive setting that blends investigation, psychological tension, and fear of the unknown into a single narrative space.
